But can we talk about this quote for a second. Can we talk about the fact that Phil is Dan’s best friend and Dan knows for a fact that he is Phil’s. He knows that there is no friend that Phil considers above him. He knows Phil can rely on him and that he can rely on Phil. Their friendship is so secure that there is no room for doubt about this. Phil is not just a good friend of his; he is his companion. And Dan knows a relationship like theirs is a very rare thing to find (after all he had to wait 18 years for his). But he wants to give hope to other people that someday they will find their companion because he knows that finding his has been a great source of happiness in his life. Like. Wow. Sometimes I think about what Dan was probably feeling as he prepared himself to give this mini speech. And what kills me about it is that certainty. Dan is basically saying your Phil is out there and guess what? He/she is also looking for you. And when you find each other, it will be the best feeling ever. It’s kinda like what people tend to say about soulmates, isn’t it? Uncanny that.
